INTRODUCTION
This Challenge seeks to source tech startups/SMEs that can address a range of challenges in the Green Economy and accelerate their market access in Australia.
Padang & Co, a Singapore-headquartered innovation company, has been appointed to design and execute the Challenge with the support of Greenhouse, an Australian- headquartered climate tech ecosystem.
BACKGROUND
The Singapore-Australia Green Economy Agreement (GEA), signed in October 2022, is a first-of-its-kind agreement that supports Australia's economic, trade, investment, and climate change objectives.
The two countries are laying the foundations necessary for cross-border economy activities that drive growth and reduce emissions. This includes facilitating flows of environmental goods and services, green and transition finance, and clean energy.
Implementation of the GEA will involve the active participation of businesses, investors, organisations, and other stakeholders supporting our economic transition to net zero emissions.
Startups and SMEs with the relevant technologies, regardless of their location, are welcome to apply.
Singapore companies may receive grant support by the government for the co-development and pilot trials. Foreign companies that anchor their activities in Singapore may also be supported.
Australian corporations collaborate with startups/SMEs to co-develop the solution and support the POC/pilot in Australia

ENTERPRISE SINGAPORE AND OPEN INNOVATION CHALLENGES
This Challenge is organised by Enterprise Singapore (“EnterpriseSG”), the government agency that champions enterprise development and works with companies to build capabilities, innovate and internationalise. EnterpriseSG also supports the growth of Singapore as a hub for tech startups.
As part of the agency’s efforts to drive innovation, it launches a number of Open Innovation Challenges every year, each involving multiple corporations across the region, including Australia.
Participating corporations provide challenge statements seeking innovative tech solutions and a test-bed for these solutions.
